The backbone of the album Mindflower, Thorn is the acoustic guitar and the rugged vocals of A. P. Meister. The recording was done old-style: going for spontaneity and the feel of the moment. The result is an hour of original music which ranges from the outlaw manifesto “Slow Burn”, the bluesy “The Company of Snakes”, the ominous “Lost at Sea”, the country-tinged “Sad Eyes” to the ethereal “Sycamore Street” (partly inspired by a poem by Baudelaire). As varied as they are, the songs share a distinctive, and often haunting, atmosphere and imagery.
